Card of the Day 16

Each day, I will draw a card from a different deck and post here my reflections

The Guardian: Wild Wood Tarot

The guardian stands at the gateway to the ancient barrow, his terrifying visage between you and your quest.

In other decks, this image would be represented by the Devil, and the symbolism would be clear cut: an attachment to materialism holds you in its thrall. But in this pagan inspired deck, the imagery is far more complex, and to my mind a more honest interpretation can be made.

For The Guardian represents a challenge and you must choose your path.  Will you move on forward, despite your fear of the unknown, or will you draw back, your courage failing you?

As with every image, the choice is always yours. The Guardian asks you to make your decision, and in doing so, take responsibility for the outcome. Your choices may have far reaching consequences, perhaps not only to yourself but to others near or far.

You are being asked to re-examine your motives, your driving force and in doing so become stronger. For you may come to realise that you are more than the sum of your own fears.
